Submissions
Submission Process
We are now offering a more streamlined information collection process. Our past submission process included several background questions that we asked creators to answer. Creators whose work was selected for publication were then asked to answer some additional questions, and those answers have been included in posts on our blog. Starting with Issue 6, we have minimized the information we solicit as part of the submission and instead ask all creators whose pieces are selected for publication to answer background questions once. Our hope is that this will minimize the amount of work our creators need to do during the production phase of each issue.
Submission Guidelines
Artists/Authors of all genders and backgrounds 18+ can submit up to five pieces for consideration. You will be asked to provide a link to a Google Drive folder that contains the pieces you are submitting. Please be sure the Google Drive folder is shareable and visible to cloverandbeemag@gmail.com.
By submitting work to Clover + Bee, you consent to our Submission Terms + Conditions. If selected, you consent to your work being shared in Clover + Bee Magazine, our social media, website, and blog (subject to your completion of questions).
Art: We are open to all genres and styles of visual art. All images must be 300 DPI and submitted as .jpg or .jpeg files. Submitted pieces may or may not be for sale. Images should be titled using the following format: LastName_FirstName_Title_Medium_Dimensions. We are not able to accept film or video pieces at this time. If selected, we may reach out for additional images to include in Clover + Bee.
Writing: We publish poetry and short prose pieces (both fiction and non-fiction), in any genre or style. All writing must be submitted in Microsoft Word or other editable format. Text should be 12pt Times New Roman, with lines double-spaced (poems may use alternative line spacing); William Shunn’s Modern Manuscript Format provides a good guide for formatting. For accepted pieces, we reserve the right to modify typeface and size as needed for spacing and consistency, but will be as deferential as possible to the author’s other formatting choices (think: purposefully unusual indents, visual poetry, etc.). Length: maximum 1,500 words for each prose piece; maximum 50 lines for poetry. Each piece should be titled using the following format: LastName_FirstName_Title. We accept reprints, but please let us know where and when a piece was previously published.
